Tasty Tuesday; Crosstown Doughnuts Review
Recently I’ve been hearing everyone hype about a Doughnut from a place called Crosstown Doughnuts, just type in Crosstown on Instagram and your mouth will begin to water.
One day last week on my way home from work I stop at Kings Cross and saw that Kings Cross Real Food Market was still open, so being me I had a little nosey around and came across Crosstown Doughnuts. I’ve wanted to try Crosstown doughnut for some time. Now was my chance!
Because it was almost closing time they did not have that much stock left, in fact, there were only five types of Doughnuts left, so I pick up three different doughnuts to see if there were worth all the hype.
For the three doughnuts I paid £9.50, so I was expecting greatness.
“Fresh raspberry home-style jam from scratch. While still warm, they are rolled in caster sugar and dipped in sweet, freeze-dried raspberries to seal in the jammy goodness.”
I’ll be honest I’m not a Jam Doughnut fan but as it’s a classic and everyone knows you have to try to compare.
This Doughnut was full of Jam, and it was an excellent Jam, this Doughnut has changed my mind on Jam Doughnuts, I would ? have this one again
Just look at all that beautiful Jam.
“Vanilla Glazed Ring Doughnut is a gourmet take on the classic glazed ring doughnut. Sourdough in the traditional ring shape is hand-dipped in a light and creamy Tongan vanilla bean glaze and decorated with a chocolate cross.”
Vanilla Glazed Ring Doughnut are my favourite when it comes to doughnuts what can I say I like it simple.
This was nice, was it the best Glazed Ring Doughnut I’ve had? No, but it was still a pretty good Doughnut.
“Sourdough with a chai custard filling, chai glaze & chopped pistachios. Made using Prana Chai.”
This Doughnut got me hyped I was so looking forward to trying this one.
Chai Custard this was going to be epic.
I only I could express how disappointed I was, it was the biggest let down ever; all I can say is ??? had to use 3 ? to let you know my disappointment. I’m so sorry, but this was not good. The Chia Custard was just not nice. I did not get a Chia flavour at all, I don’t know what it did taste like as I’ve never had that flavour before.
The Good, The Bad & The Lovely
The Good had to go to the Jam Doughnut; the Jam was good and flavoursome.
The Lovely Vanilla Glazed Ring Doughnut because you will ways be my favourite
The Bad Chai Tea, sorry Chia Tea but your just not for me.
This being said I would be going back to Crosstown, as they do look to have some pretty epic flavours which I want to try, in all fairness I got there when they had minimal stock, and my choices were slim.
What’s is your favourite Doughnut???
